more great online resources

Are you a fan of Lifehacker already? If you aren't, you really should be. I check it a few times a week, and always come away with handy advice on how to improve my life. Mostly, however, I use it for tech-related things. Recently, while checking a few of my usual blogs, it occurred to me: Lifehacker probably had a lot of the same do-it-yourself and make-it-better suggestions as I was finding on all the new pieces! I quickly directed my browser that way, and realized I'd been MISSING OUT.

Lifehacker, as a subsidiary of Gawker, Inc. (umbrella company of Jezebel, Gizmodo, and [duh] Gawker, among numerous other websites) has the same essential layout of its sister blogs: the content of either the most recent or selected post taking up two thirds of the screen on the left side, and a list of your other reading options down the right. On this second portion, each post is categorized within a particular grouping. One of my favorites, for instance, is Jezebel's Worth It, which solicits unpaid reviews of various products. A quick browse of Lifehacker's categories came up with the two following:

How-To

Household

The former isn't solely domestic "how-to" suggestions, but incorporates a lot of them in there. The latter, however, is an abundance of cheap, easy, clever fixes for problems around your home - incredible! Many of the ideas are completely novel, as well - for instance, rather than being instructions on how to hang an Ikea pot rack, you'll find instructions on repurposing a totally different object to be your new pot rack. (But you'll also learn how to hang it. So you're covered, no matter what.)

Lifehacker. It lives up to its name.
